FAQs and Information
The Cottage Rentals Registration office is inside the Sea Island Real Estate/Cottage Rentals/Sea Marsh Building located at 351 Sea Island Road on St. Simons Island at the foot of the Sea Island Causeway. The office will be on the left just beyond the intersection of Frederica Road and Sea Island Road. Because Sea Island is a gated community, you will be receive you vehicle pass from the Cottage Rentals office. You may then proceed to the Security Gatehouse on the Sea Island Causeway.
Please check in after 4:00pm. During peak rental times, there may be a slight delay in cottage readiness. (Requests for an earlier check-in or delayed check-out must be approved in advance by the Cottage Rentals office. Approval is based on ability to reschedule housekeeping operations.)
At check-in you will receive your keys and temporary membership cards. In the event of a delay in cottage readiness, you are welcome to use the resort facilities until your cottage is ready.
Please check out before 10:00 to avoid additional rental fees. Before you leave the cottage, dispose of all food items, turn off all lights and small appliances, secure windows and entries, and leave all keys at the Cottage Rental Front Desk to avoid re-keying charges.
Please be aware that there is a legal maximum occupancy allowed in your cottage (usually two guests per bedroom or sleeping room unless otherwise prescribed by the cottage owner). The maximum occupancy is stated on your rental agreement and will be strictly enforced.
To protect the cottage owners' property and to maintain the quiet, residential nature of Sea Island, functions are limited in rental cottages. So that rental guests may entertain in the home in small numbers, we have defined a function as a gathering having invitees totaling more than twice the maximum occupancy of the cottage—so a small dinner party is fine. If you would like to entertain a larger group, a few cottage owners have agreed to allow functions for an additional fee and on the condition that the function is organized and supervised by Sea Island Company. Please call our Catering Services department (912-638-3611) to discuss options and plan your function.
If You Have Guests
Please remember, for your invited guests to access Sea Island, it will be necessary to contact Sea Island Security and advise them of the name(s) of any guests who are not Sea Island Club members who will be visiting you during your stay.
Sea Island Club memberships, for the term of the rental agreement, are included in bookings through Sea Island Cottage Rentals and are provided to cottage renters included in the rental contract. Your Sea Island Club membership cards, necessary for access to all resort facilities, will be issued in the name of each guest for the number of occupants allowed in your cottage. The cards will be issued according to information provided in advance to Cottage Rentals. All charges will be billed to the name on the reservation. If separate billing accounts are needed, please notify our Cottage Rentals office in advance of your arrival to avoid a delay in processing the cards.
Membership under the rental agreement provides renters access to Sea Island's private facilities including the Beach Club, The Spa and Salon at Sea Island, Fitness Center, Sea Island Tennis Clubs, the Sea Island Golf Club, Shooting School, Yacht Club and dining facilities. All charges for services and activities will be billed to the guest according to the posted rates.
PLEASE NOTE: A membership card for each person is required for admittance to all Sea Island Club facilities. Purchases may be charged to the renter's or guest's cottage account which is established when the cottage reservation is made. Guests requesting separate accounts need to contact Cottage Rentals with names, addresses and credit card numbers prior to arrival.
Sea Island Cottage Rental guests are eligible to attend special entertainment, parties, and weekly events. At the Sea Island Golf Club, Sea Island Cottage Rental guests may dine or play golf at applicable rates. At the Beach Club, Sea Island Cottage Rental guests may enjoy the beach, pools, whirlpool, showers, dressing areas, steam, and shuffleboard court as part of their membership. Other facilities are available at applicable rates.
At The Spa, Sea Island Cottage Rental guests have access to Spa fitness and personal services by appointment, at applicable rates.* At the Sea Island Tennis club, the Shooting School and the Yacht Club, Sea Island Cottage Rental guests have access to recreation facilities and programs at the applicable rates. Club access is an exclusive privilege afforded only to Sea Island Club members, hotel guests, and cottage rental guests specified in the rental contract.
We have several cottages that provide handicapped access. However, because these are private residences, not all cottages will accommodate small children or other guests with special needs. Please let us know of any special requirements for you or your houseguests so that we can assist you better in the selection of your cottage.
If a crib, highchair, or other specialty equipment is needed, please notify our Cottage Rentals office in advance of your arrival so that we can obtain these from a local supplier. Your account will be charged for the rental.
Please be sure to include paper products when shopping for your vacation. Linens, towels, and "start up" supplies are included in the cottage for your convenience. Paper products, trash bags, personal amenities, and groceries for your stay are not included in the rental.
Sitters are available through an independent company, Sitters by the Shore (912-399-4401).
Telephone & Mail
Telephone and mail we recommend that you use your cellular phone or credit card for long-distance calling. Any long-distance calls billed to the cottage phone will be billed to the guest after departure with a service surcharge.

Packages should be addressed to you at 100 Cloister Drive, Sea Island, GA 31561. Your package will be delivered to your cottage. Mail addressed to The Cloister or your cottage number may be delayed in reaching you. Please do not include either in your address. Your mail may be picked up at the Sea Island Post Office adjacent to The Cloister. Federal Express and UPS may be delivered directly to the cottage. You may leave a forwarding address with the Post Office.
Maintenance, Repairs & Housekeeping
Your cottage is thoroughly prepared and inspected prior to your arrival. However, if the cottage does not meet your expectations or a mechanical malfunction occurs, please notify Cottage Housekeeping or Cottage Rentals immediately so we may correct the problem.
Daily housekeeping services may be arranged for an additional charge. Daily housekeeping services include dusting and vacuuming of all rooms; cleaning bathrooms; cleaning the kitchen, loading/running the dishwasher, mopping floor, wiping counters and appliances; making beds and changing linens, as requested; sweeping porches and patios, wiping off outdoor furniture, emptying waste baskets and placing trash in outdoor receptacles. This service is offered Monday through Sunday, excluding holidays. Daily housekeeping is an additional charge, not included in your cottage rental cost. Rates are subject to change. You will be billed for this additional service, as follows:
1–2 bedroom home. . .$85 per visit, 3–4 bedroom home . . .$175 per visit
5–6 bedroom home. . .$225 per visit, 7+ bedroom home. . . .$275 per visit

Landscape & Pool Maintenance
Services are performed on a regular schedule determined by the cottage owner. However, a sudden storm may necessitate additional service. Please call our Cottage Rental concierge if additional pool cleaning is needed. Also, some cottages have heated pools. Notify the Cottage Rentals office in advance if you desire to heat the pool for an additional fee. It will take approximately 48 hours to bring the pool to a heated temperature. Garbage collection occurs on Wednesday for the marsh side of Sea Island Drive up to 36th Street, on Friday for the beach side of Sea Island Drive and north of the roundabout, and on Monday for Lake Cottages (holidays may cause schedule adjustment). Please place all garbage in the outdoor green refuse container provided. Please note that the service provider will not service any can filled over capacity or with the lid ajar. Overflow garbage bags approved by Glynn County sanitation service may be purchased at Harris Teeter, in the Shops at Sea Island.
Most cottages do not accept pets; please be sure to confirm with the cottage rental office if you wish to bring a pet.
Our Coastal Georgia Setting
The temperate, semi-tropical climate, combined with the natural settings of Sea Island, promote large oaks and a proliferation of other native vegetation and wildlife. Please refrain from approaching wild animals such as deer, raccoons, or the occasional small alligator. Various species of insects are prevalent at certain times of the year, so we suggest packing your favorite insect repellent. Household and landscape pesticides are used in the rental cottages, based on the owner's schedule. We will do all we can to prevent applications during your stay. Therefore, if you have severe allergies, please advise us in advance.
A deposit equal to one night’s room rate plus tax is due at time of booking, except that 100% of all cottage lodging charges is due if arrival is less than sixty (60) days from booking. GUEST may cancel this agreement by giving a minimum of sixty (60) days written notice before the date on which the occupancy is to begin. Upon such sixty (60) day notice, reservation deposits paid, less an amount equal to one night’s rent plus tax, shall be refunded to GUEST.
